This college, run by the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara was established in 1954 by Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil on the confluence of Krishna and Koyna rivers. It has been imparting higher education to the masses, especially needy, deprived, rural and disadvantaged student communities. It is the matter of great pride to convey to you that this is the first college established at the tehsil place in India and now it has emerged as the biggest multi-faculty college in the jurisdiction of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. It offers 30 UG and 19 PG programmes, 09 Professional courses and 02 B.Voc. Courses. Besides, it is a well- known center for M. Phil. and Ph. D. research. A large number of students are benefited with a number of self-financing skill-oriented courses, support services and inter-disciplinary activities. The college is enriched with research-oriented teaching staff, sound infrastructure, strong registered Alumni Association and a good ambience. It has been continuously striving to achieve excellence in all spheres of academic activities. I am happy to tell you that NAAC Bangalore, acknowledging our quality-striving endeavors, has accredited this college at 'A + ' Grade with 3.63 CGPA in the third cycle of assessment and accreditation. Recognizing its contribution to higher education, the college is awarded with an Autonomous Status by UGC, New Delhi from June 2019.

At present, in our college, more than 12,500 students are receiving education through various disciplines. Most of the students are from rural area. These students are not only from Karad Tahsil but from Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, and the South Konkan region. Among them more than sixty percent of students are girls. Through curricular and co-curricular activities, we are trying to carry out the overall development of our students, so they can face challenges in future confidently. Besides the academic activities, some of the teaching and non-teaching faculty members are actively involved in activities, such as research, communication skills and faculty development programmes. We have a boys and girls hostel facility. We are working under the guidance of Sanstha and CDC. We also accept suggestions from stakeholders. If you are willing to get involved in this process directly or indirectly, you are always welcome, and we are waiting for your response.
